The difference between closeouts and overstock are the following:

1. Closeouts are available regularly. In a years time you can find closeout deals at least 4 times per year. Meanwhile, overstock usually occurs only once per year.

2. Closeouts tend to have lower quantity per  line items and a greater diversity of product. Many times, you can stack a store with a just one closeout deal. You are going to find quantities closer to 1,000 units per line item for overstock. This is going to require you to make it a featured deal on your site or retail store.

If someone has inventory just sitting around in the warehouse or retail store they are just wasting time and money. There are many ways to liquidate this inventory.

These are the options you should be considering.

1. Sell it to a liquidator like us. This is the cleanest and fastest option. We pay you the money and you ship the merchandise. There is no long process. Brands will always get a better offer. As will more expensive items that have a higher consumer demand.

2. Marketplaces such as ebay and amazon. This option will be the most work but might get you the higher price. Search for your product using a advanced search on ebay. Click the "completed items" box. You will be able to see what other items sold for and get a scene of what you can get.

3. Sell it to a auction house. This  could be a fast way to liquidate expensive items. But you have to be careful which one you choose. I have personally seen products go for very cheap prices.

4. Donate the merchandise. This could be a nice tax write off and be a marketing win.

5. Give the merchandise as gifts to your most loyal customers. This can increase their loyalty and your bottom line.

A closeout sale means that the merchandise is going be heavily discounted. You could expect a price of somewhere between 40% and 60% off. The merchandise will consist of products that were not doing very well when selling in their normal format. You could expect that some merchandise will not be returnable, since the retailer is trying to "clear house".
